Ravensburger Games and Board Games

Ravensburger games cover more ground than most game makers: picture memory games from age 2, the Labyrinth family at 4+ and 7+, preschool board games, and strategy games such as The Castles of Burgundy, Disney Villainous and Horrified at 10+ and 12+. GraviTrax marble runs sell under the Ravensburger name too. The age line sorts the whole lineup faster than anything else. (I tried sorting it by box color first. Ravensburger boxes have opinions about blue.)

What Ravensburger makes

Ravensburger makes games for every age we cover, from age 2 to adult. In our data, Ravensburger games span family games, preschool games, strategy games, card games and party games. GraviTrax marble runs also sell with Ravensburger as the brand shown, so they're in the grid above too.

The 40 Ravensburger board games and card games we work from here sort into six groups:

  1. Picture memory games, from 2+ and 3+
  2. Preschool board games
  3. The Labyrinth family
  4. Quick family and card games
  5. Strategy games for 10+ and 12+
  6. Expansions

The grid shows each listing with its age, players and play time where the listing states them.

Ravensburger games by line

Picture memory games

Memory games are pairs of picture cards, face down. Flip two; if they match, keep them. Ravensburger has several in our data:

Vehicles My First Memory starts youngest, at 2. The rest start at 3. Space and Nature both list up to 8 players, so a whole family can play at once.

The nice thing about a memory game is that age doesn't buy an advantage. A 4-year-old with a good eye beats a tired parent, and the cards don't care who bought them.

Preschool board games

Teddy Mix & Match and Colorino go down to 1 player, so a 2-year-old can play with a parent as a teammate rather than an opponent. Snail's Pace Race and Enchanted Forest seat up to 6. Disney Eye Found It lists 4–6, a range with an end. Eye Found It World of Disney Card Game, a card version, lists 3–8.

Who should skip this group: a family whose youngest is already 7. These games are built to be outgrown.

The Labyrinth family

Labyrinth is a maze game. The board is made of path tiles, and on your turn you slide a row to change the maze before you move. Our data has seven Labyrinth listings:

The licensed boxes are named here as their listings name them. Within the family, the split is by age. The Junior boxes start at 4. The full-size boxes start at 7.

That's the cleanest pick in the whole lineup. A 5-year-old gets a Junior box. An 8-year-old gets a full-size box. The theme is a second choice, made after the age.

Marisol's take, reading the back of a Labyrinth box: "A maze that moves every turn is a survey that won't hold still. I'd lose. Happily."

Quick family and card games

Rivers, Roads and Rails lists 1–8 players and 15 minutes, a wide fit for a mixed table. Othello is strictly two players; our Othello page covers it. Push 2024 is press-your-luck: keep drawing for more, or stop before you lose the round.

Strategy games for 10+ and 12+

The Castles of Burgundy lists 12+, the highest starting age in our Ravensburger data, and a 30–90 minute range. It lists 164 six-sided tiles among its parts. Carpe Diem lists over 220 tiles. Las Vegas Royale starts at 8 and plays in under an hour by the listing.

The two Horrified games list 1–5 players and a solo mode, so they work for a small table or a single player.

Disney Villainous

Four listings: Disney Villainous (10+), Wicked to the Core (10+, up to 6 players, three villain boards), Evil Comes Prepared (10+) and Perfectly Wretched (10+, 2–3 players). Each is listed as a stand-alone game in our data. Our Villainous page explains how the boxes fit together.

Expansions

Both list The Castles of Burgundy as the base game required. They're for someone who already owns it.

Best Ravensburger games for each kind of table

Here's the table version, using only listed ages and player counts:

  1. A 2- or 3-year-old and a parent: Colorino, Teddy Mix & Match, Vehicles My First Memory, then the 3+ memory games.
  2. Ages 4 to 6: Junior Labyrinth, Funny Bunny, Enchanted Forest, Snail's Pace Race.
  3. Ages 7 to 10: Labyrinth and its themed editions, Ocean Labyrinth, Rivers, Roads and Rails.
  4. A big mixed group: Rivers, Roads and Rails (1–8), Space or Nature Memory (2–8).
  5. Two players: Othello, or Perfectly Wretched for 2–3.
  6. A 10+ group with an evening: Horrified, Villainous, Carpe Diem, Minecraft: Builders & Biomes.
  7. A 12+ group that likes long games: The Castles of Burgundy.

"Best" here means best fit for that table by the label. It's not a ranking of the games.

Moving up the Labyrinth ladder

The Labyrinth family is a rare thing: the same idea at two ages, with listings that say so. It makes a neat path for a family over several years.

At 4, a Junior box. Junior Labyrinth lists 4–8, 2–4 players and about 15 minutes. PAW Patrol Labyrinth Junior lists 4+. Both keep the sliding-maze idea with less to track.

At 7, a full-size box. Labyrinth lists 7–10. Ocean Labyrinth lists 7+ and states its 34 maze cards and 24 treasure cards. The themed versions list 7–10 or 7+.

Note the end numbers. Junior Labyrinth stops at 8. The classic box stops at 10. Those are the maker's words about who the game was built for, not a rule that a 12-year-old or an adult can't play. Kids are often quicker than adults at spotting a path on a board that keeps changing. I've stopped taking that personally. Mostly.

Games for a family of five or six

Most board games stop at 4. If your table regularly seats five or six, the Ravensburger list narrows to these, by their listed player counts:

For older groups, Las Vegas Royale lists 2–5, Strike lists 2–5, and the two Horrified games list 1–5. Wicked to the Core lists up to 6 players.

That's a real shelf for a big family, and most of it fits a wide age spread. The memory games and Rivers, Roads and Rails can seat a 5-year-old next to a grandparent without changing the rules.

How to pick a Ravensburger game

Three questions, in order:

  1. How old is the youngest player? That rules out more of the lineup than anything else.
  2. How many people usually play? Most games sit at 2–4. A few go to 6 or 8. Othello is exactly 2.
  3. How long can they sit? Preschool games list about 15 to 30 minutes. Las Vegas Royale lists 45–60. Castles of Burgundy runs up to 90.

Then pick the theme. Several boxes come in licensed versions with the same rules underneath, so the theme can be the tiebreaker, not the starting point.

Memory games: which deck

With six memory games in our data, the differences are small but real. Vehicles My First Memory is the only one listed at 2+, so it's the first deck by the label. The 3+ decks differ by theme: animal babies, the great outdoors, space, nature. Nature Memory lists 64 picture cards and 2–8 players. Space Memory lists 2–8 players too. For a toddler, fewer pairs on the table is easier, so start with part of the deck and add pairs as they get better. That works with any memory game, and nobody needs to buy a second box to do it.

GraviTrax marble runs

Ravensburger also appears as the brand on GraviTrax marble runs. They're in the grid above and on our marble runs page, which compares them with runs from other makers. Read each GraviTrax listing for its age and whether it's a starter set or an add-on.

Who should skip Ravensburger games

Small parts

Check the age label on the listing. Toys with small parts are a choking hazard for children under 3. Pawns, dice, tokens and marbles go back in the box after the game, out of reach of the youngest players in the house.

Age first, players second, theme last. Then shuffle the memory cards face down and let the youngest flip first.

Where Ravensburger shows up

Questions about Ravensburger

What are the best Ravensburger games?

We don't rank brands' games by opinion. By the data, the right Ravensburger game depends on age and group: memory games and Colorino from 2–3, Labyrinth Junior and Enchanted Forest from 4, classic Labyrinth from 7, and The Castles of Burgundy, Villainous and Horrified for 10+ and 12+ tables. The grid above shows each one's listed age, players and time.

What age are Ravensburger games for?

Listed ages in our data start at 2 for Teddy Mix & Match, Colorino and Vehicles My First Memory, and 3 for most memory games, Colorama and Snail's Pace Race. Labyrinth lists 7–10 and Junior Labyrinth 4–8. Villainous, Horrified: Dungeons & Dragons Ravenloft, Carpe Diem and Minecraft: Builders & Biomes list 10+. The Castles of Burgundy lists 12+.

Are Ravensburger board games good?

We don't give brands a verdict. What the data shows is a lineup that runs from age 2 to 12+, from 15-minute preschool games to a 30–90 minute strategy game, with several games that list a solo mode. Whether one suits your family depends on the youngest player's age and how long the table wants to sit.

Where can I buy Ravensburger games?

The games in the grid above are listed on Amazon US, checked for delivery to ZIP 10001 when we collected the data in October 2026. Each card links to its listing, where you can check the current price and seller. The Ravensburger lineup on Amazon is large, so the grid may show more games than this page names.

Which Ravensburger games can you play alone?

In our data, Rivers, Roads and Rails (1–8), Horrified: Universal Monsters (1–5) and Horrified: Dungeons & Dragons Ravenloft (1–5) list a solo mode. Teddy Mix & Match and Colorino also list 1 as the minimum player count, so a young child can play them alone or with a grown-up.
