threezero Figures: FigZero, ROBO-DOU, DLX and MDLX Explained

threezero makes highly posable figures in a few clearly named lines. On Amazon US right now that's 1/6 figures around 12 in tall, many under the FigZero name, ROBO-DOU robots from 9 to 13 in, DLX and MDLX Transformers and Marvel figures, and a couple of smaller 1/12 figures. The joint counts are the headline: the listings that state them run from 20 to 124. Pick the line first. It decides the height, the joint count and how much shelf you're about to give up.

What threezero makes

threezero figures on Amazon US are posable figures. Our data types them as action figures and anime figures, with a big group of 1/6-scale figures among them. None is a fixed statue.

threezero's about page says the company was founded in 2000 by Kim Fung Wong. It lists its product lines as DLX, MDLX, FigZero, FigZero S, ROBO-DOU, PREMIUM, threezeroX, threeMega, SiXTH, KAIJU-DOU, Code_threezero and others. Five of those show up in our Amazon US data: FigZero, FigZero S, ROBO-DOU, DLX and MDLX.

The licensed lines on the listings, as named, include Transformers, Marvel's Infinity Saga, Ultraman, Stranger Things, G.I. Joe, Power Rangers Zeo, Spy x Family, The Witcher, Voltron, Patlabor, Evangelion, Getter Robo, VOTOMS, Dorohedoro, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Rambo, Terminator: Dark Fate and Mega Man. We name them only as the listings do.

threezero lineup by line

FigZero and other 1/6 figures

FigZero is threezero's 1/6-scale line. Several more 1/6 listings in our grid don't carry the FigZero name but share the scale, so they're grouped here. Together they're the biggest group in the grid. One-sixth scale means a 6 ft character comes out at 12 in. That's what most of these listings state.

What the 1/6 listings show:

1/6 keeps proportions honest. The FigZero Spy x Family Anya listing states 6.5 in, about half the height of the adult FigZero figures. A small character stays small. That's the scale doing its job.

A figure with metal in the frame is a figure you pick up with two hands. Lift it by the torso, not by an arm.

Who it suits: someone who wants one big, detailed, posable figure as the center of a shelf. Who should skip it: anyone with a standard bookcase who wants a row. Twelve inches plus a stand doesn't fit under most shelves.

FigZero S

FigZero S is the smaller version of the line. One listing in our grid carries the name: a Shin Ultraman figure with four pairs of swap hands and 30 joints. Our data doesn't state its height, so check the listing.

ROBO-DOU

ROBO-DOU is the robot line. Listings in our data state heights from 9 in to 13.2 in, and joint counts that get big fast:

One hundred twenty-four joints. That's more moving parts than anything I've had on the bench this month, and I fix engines for a living.

Marisol's take: "A hundred joints is a hundred places to check before you call a pose finished." She checks a tripod the same way, one leg at a time.

Who it suits: robot fans who like to pose. Who should skip it: someone who wants to set it once and forget it. A figure with that many joints rewards fiddling.

DLX and MDLX

DLX and MDLX are threezero's smaller collector lines in our data. MDLX is the smaller of the two.

If you came here searching for threezero Transformers, these are the six in our grid. They're display action figures. The listings don't say they convert between modes.

That matters if you're buying for a Transformers fan who expects a toy that changes from robot to vehicle. These listings describe robot-mode figures with joints, hands, weapons and, on one Mirage, LED lights. The appeal is the detail and the posing. If converting is the point for the person you're shopping for, read the listing carefully and look for the word in the description before you buy. If it isn't there, assume it doesn't convert.

1/12 figures outside the named lines

Two smaller figures carry no line name in our data: a Terminator: Dark Fate Sarah Connor at 6 in with combat vest armor and three weapons, and an Honor of Kings Liu Bei at 6 in with 20 joints.

Ultraman at threezero

Ultraman shows up more than any other license in our threezero grid, across FigZero and FigZero S. As the listings name them:

Two Zoffy listings are two different figures: a standard anime version and a Stealth Version. Read the version word before you add to cart. If you're building a row, the FigZero 1:6 listings that state a height all land between 12 and 12.2 in, so they line up neatly.

Posing a figure with a lot of joints

These are shelf habits, not instructions from threezero. If a figure comes with its own notes, follow those first.

  1. Start at the feet. Set the stance, then the hips, then work up. A pose built from the top falls over from the bottom.
  2. One joint at a time. Move one, check the balance, move the next.
  3. Don't force a stiff joint. If it won't move with normal pressure, check whether a part or a cape is in the way.
  4. Use the stand when one's included. Several listings here include an action stand. A wide stance on a stand stays put.
  5. Swap hands over a tray. Small hands bounce. A tray catches them.

How to pick a threezero figure

Pick by the shelf you have

Here's the size spread in plain numbers, from the listings:

Line Listed height Listed joints
MDLX 4–7 in 34–46
DLX 6.9–8 in 48–61
ROBO-DOU 9–13.2 in 48–124
FigZero and other 1/6 6.5–16 in, mostly 12 22–52

If your shelves are standard bookcase height, MDLX and DLX fit in a row. ROBO-DOU fits on a taller shelf. A 1/6 figure wants a shelf of its own.

Pick by how much you'll pose it

High joint counts are for people who re-pose. If you'll set a pose once, you don't need 124 joints. A DLX or MDLX figure gives you plenty, in less space. A joint count measures options, not quality. A figure with 46 joints posed with care looks better on a shelf than one with 124 posed in a hurry on the way out the door.

Read the version words

"Anime Edition", "Season 2 Anime Ver.", "Stealth Version", "Black Version", "Metallic Color Version", "Retro Toy Version", "Winter Costume Ver." These are different releases, sometimes of the same character. The grid has two Voltron ROBO-DOU listings and two Mirage listings. Make sure you're looking at the one you want.

Plan for the box

1/6 and ROBO-DOU boxes are big. My tía saw a FigZero box come through the casita door and asked if I'd bought a lamp. If you keep boxes, measure the box before you measure the shelf.

Buying one as a gift

threezero gifts usually go to someone who already knows the license. Three things to get right: the character, the line and the version. "The Voltron one" could be either of two ROBO-DOU listings in our grid, a standard one and a Retro Toy Version. "The Transformers one" could be six different figures in two lines and two sizes.

If you're not sure, ask about their shelf before you ask about the character. A collector with a row of 6-inch figures will be happier with an MDLX or DLX than with a 12 in figure that needs a new shelf.

Who should skip threezero

If you want a simple figure for a young kid, threezero isn't the match. None of the listings in our data states an age, many come with small swap parts, and several license lines come from adult films and series, by their names. If you want a fixed display piece with no posing, a statue line from another maker is less work.

Small parts and magnets

Swap hands, face plates, weapons and small accessories are small parts. Check the age label on the listing. Toys with small parts are a choking hazard for children under 3.

One DLX listing includes a magnetic case. Swallowed magnets can cause serious internal injuries. Keep loose or broken magnetic pieces away from young children.

What we couldn't confirm

threezero's about page gave us its founding year, founder and line names. It doesn't state a headquarters address or where each figure is made, so neither is on this page. Product facts come from the listings in our data, checked on Amazon US on the date at the top.

Count the joints, then count the inches. The bigger number usually wins the argument.

Questions about threezero

Are threezero figures good?

We don't rate brands. Here's what the data shows: threezero listings on Amazon US are posable figures in named lines, and the ones that state a joint count list 20 to 124 points of articulation. FigZero 1/6 listings state about 12 in, ROBO-DOU 9 to 13.2 in, and MDLX 5.1 to 7 in. Pick by line and shelf space.

Does threezero make Transformers figures?

Yes. The grid on this page has threezero Transformers figures in two lines: DLX Mirage figures from Transformers: Rise of the Beasts at 8 in, and MDLX figures from Transformers One and Shattered Glass at 5.1 to 7 in with 46 listed joints each. They're display action figures, not toys that convert.

What is threezero FigZero?

FigZero is threezero's line of 1/6-scale figures. In our data most FigZero listings state about 12 in tall and 32 to 52 points of articulation, with swap hands and character accessories. There's also FigZero S, a smaller version of the line; one FigZero S listing in our data states 30 joints.
