Super7 Figures: ReAction, Ultimates and the Rest of the Lineup

What Super7 makes

Super7 figures on Amazon US fall into three types in our data: action figures, vinyl and designer figures, and statues. In practice the brand works in size groups, and each size group has its own line names.

Super7's own store groups its figures under ReAction, Ultimates, Deluxe, SuperSize vinyl, Fun Fun MINI, Super Cycles and blind boxes, along with plush, apparel and other goods. The Amazon US listings in our grid use the same line names.

The licensed lines on the listings include G.I. Joe, ThunderCats, SilverHawks, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Toho's Godzilla films, Universal Monsters, Gremlins 2, Peanuts, Sesame Street, Coraline, Micronauts and Planet of the Apes. There are also figures of musicians, named on the listings. We name them all only as the listings do.

Super7 lineup by size

ReAction (3.75 in)

ReAction is the small, retro-style line. The listings in our grid state a 3.75 in scale. Some are carded, meaning the figure comes sealed on a printed card. Examples, as listed:

• A Gremlins 2 Mohawk figure, carded
• A Return of the Living Dead Tarman (Monster Glow)
• Music figures: a Thin Lizzy Phil Lynott with a guitar, a J Dilla with a mixer, an Eric B. & Rakim two-pack, a De La Soul figure and a Ghostface Killah figure
• Two Planet of the Apes "Lawgiver" ReAction listings, typed as statues in our data

ReAction figures are simple by design. Small accessories, a few listed parts, one look.

Who it suits: someone who likes the old carded-figure style, collects a band or a film, or wants a lot of figures in a little space. Who should skip it: anyone who wants detail and posing. That's the 7-inch lines.

ReAction+ (3.75 to 4 in)

ReAction+ is the same small size with more movement. Every ReAction+ listing in our data states 12 points of articulation. The grid has G.I. Joe figures from the movie and the cartoon, a Micronauts Force Commander with a jetpack and a Universal Monsters Frankenstein. One G.I. Joe listing states 4 in instead of 3.75.

If you like the size of ReAction but want to pose it, the plus sign is the part of the name to look for.

Ultimates (7 in)

Ultimates is the big posable line. Every Ultimates action figure listing in our data states a 7 in scale. The accessory lists are long. A few:

• G.I. Joe Cobra Trooper: swap heads and hands, three firearms, an electric whip, a walkie-talkie, a briefcase
• ThunderCats WilyKit: swap heads and hands, lassos and a hoverboard with a flight stand
• ThunderCats Lion-O: LED eyes, swap heads and hands, a sword and claw shields
• TMNT Shredder: swap heads and hands, a sword and a small Ch'Rell figure
• Toho Battra (1992): a swap head, swap legs and a flight stand

One listing, a Toho Godzilla Minus One, says 8 in and is typed as a statue in our data. Read the height on monster figures. A monster at "7-inch scale" isn't a 7 in figure.

Deluxe (7 in, carded)

Deluxe figures are also 7-inch scale but sold carded, with a shorter parts list. ThunderCats Tygra, Mumm-Ra (Old Man) and Ghost Jaga are in the grid, plus an ODB (Return to the 36 Chambers) figure, as the listing names it. Think of Deluxe as 7 in with fewer extras and a card to hang.

SuperSize vinyl (16 to 19 in)

SuperSize is the tall one. Listings state 16 in for a Coraline figure and a Mummy Boy figure, and 19 in for a Sesame Street Big Bird. The Coraline listing names a removable fabric raincoat and rain boots. The Big Bird listing names a soft goods collar and necktie.

A 19 in figure needs a shelf that's at least 20 in tall inside, plus room for the head to clear the shelf above when you lift it. Most bookcase shelves aren't. Measure before you buy, and then measure again.

Small vinyl, Super Kaiju and Supervinyl

• Fun Fun vinyl (5 in): a Godzilla Minus One in grayscale and a standing Snoopy
• Super Kaiju (about 5 in): a Godzilla (2002) at 5.06 in, with a laser cannon
• Supervinyl (3 in): a Yasuke figure from the Netflix series
• Vintage (5.5 in): a Samhain Glenn Danzig figure with a microphone

These are mostly one-pose vinyl figures. They sit on a desk or a crowded shelf without asking for much.

Blind boxes

Three listings are blind boxes: a Universal Monsters "Blind Box Flat (12 Pack)", a Peanuts "So Many Snoopies" flat of 12 and a Minions Fun Fun MINI blind box. Blind box means you don't know which figure is in each box until you open it.

A 12-pack flat is the only toy I know that comes with a surprise and a checklist. If you need one specific figure from the series, a blind box is the wrong tool.

One license, several lines

Some licenses show up across more than one Super7 line. ThunderCats is the clearest example in our grid. It has three Ultimates listings (WilyKit, Mumm-Ra Dream Master, Lion-O with LED eyes) and three Deluxe listings (Tygra, Mumm-Ra Old Man, Ghost Jaga).

Ultimates and Deluxe share the 7-inch scale, so they stand together fine. What differs is the box. Ultimates list swap heads, hands and more accessories. Deluxe lists a short accessory set and comes carded. If you're building a ThunderCats shelf, you can mix both. Just know that a Deluxe figure won't come with the same pile of extras as the Ultimates figure next to it.

G.I. Joe works the same way at a different pair of sizes. There's a 7-inch Ultimates Cobra Trooper, and there are 3.75 to 4 in ReAction+ figures from the movie and the cartoon. Those two don't stand together. A Cobra Trooper at 7 in towers over a ReAction+ figure at 3.75. Pick the size you'll keep collecting in, then buy the characters in that size.

Super7 music figures

Super7 has a run of musician figures in our grid. Most are ReAction figures, which suits a band shelf: small, carded or loose, and easy to line up by album. As the listings name them:

The words in parentheses are album or song names on the listings. They tell you which look the figure has. If you're buying for a fan, that's the detail to match. The accessories follow the music, per the listings: a guitar, a mixer, records, microphones.

How to pick a Super7 figure

Pick the size first

Here are the four shelves in plain numbers, from our data:

Theo's take: "Seven divided by 3.75 is 1.87. Close to double isn't double. Put them side by side and you'll see the point-one-three." He's right. The difference shows on a shelf.

Carded or loose

Here's my one opinion for this page: decide carded or loose before you buy a Super7 figure, because it decides where the figure lives. Some ReAction and Deluxe listings in our data say carded. A card hangs on a wall or stands in a frame. A loose figure stands on a shelf. Keep it carded and you need wall space. Open it and you need shelf space, plus somewhere for the card if you're a keeper. I'm a keeper. The stack of cards behind my door now has its own shelf, which is how a hobby quietly takes over a room.

Count the parts if you'll pose it

Ultimates figures come with heads, hands and accessories. You'll display one look at a time. If you want one look and no drawer full of parts, a Deluxe or a ReAction figure gives you that.

Check the line words

"Monster Glow", "Grayscale", "LED Eyes", "Old Man", "Dream Master", "Movie Collection", "Cartoon". Each one names a specific version. Copy the full listing name before you buy, especially for a gift.

Monster figures need a second look

Godzilla and other kaiju show up in four different Super7 forms in our grid: an Ultimates Battra with swap legs and a flight stand, an 8 in Godzilla Minus One typed as a statue, a 5 in grayscale vinyl and a 5.06 in Super Kaiju figure. Same monster family, four sizes, four styles. If someone tells you they want "the Super7 Godzilla," ask which one, and send them the listing to confirm.

Buying one as a gift

For a Super7 gift, three questions cover almost everything. What size do they collect? Which license or band? Carded or loose? If you can't ask, a single 5 in vinyl figure is the safest guess. It sits anywhere, it doesn't need a parts drawer, and it doesn't commit anyone to a line.

Who should skip Super7

If you want one consistent shelf of figures in one size, Super7's range can work against you. You'll need to stay inside one line. If you want a figure for a young child, check every listing. None in our data states an age, and many have small accessories.

Small parts

Swap hands, heads and small accessories are small parts. Check the age label on the listing. Toys with small parts are a choking hazard for children under 3.

What we couldn't confirm

Super7's store page gave us its line names. We didn't find a first-party page in our check that states the company's founding year or where the figures are made, so those aren't here. Product facts come from the listings in our data, checked on Amazon US on the date at the top.

Pick the shelf first. Super7 has a figure for every shelf height, which is exactly the problem.
