Mould King Sets: Trucks, Cranes, Engines and More

Mould King sets are big brick models of machines: excavators, cranes, semi trucks, V8 engines, classic cars and roller coasters. Twenty-two Mould King listings are live on Amazon US, from about 1,000 pieces to 8,506. Every one that states an age says 14+. So this is a teen-and-grown-up brand, and the real question is how much table you can give up, and for how long.

What Mould King makes

Mould King makes brick-built models of machines. In our data, every Mould King listing is a brick set: plastic bricks, beams and other parts that you follow a booklet to build into one large model. The models are mostly things with engines and wheels. Construction equipment, trucks, cars and engine blocks make up most of the lineup, with two roller coasters and one toy shotgun model alongside.

That's a narrow range, and it's deliberate. If you like building a machine you can recognize from the road or a job site, the lineup is built around that. If you want a castle, a spaceship or a character, this isn't the brand.

The grid above shows the 22 Mould King listings live on Amazon US as of 2026-10-23. To compare Mould King with other brick makers by piece count and age, see the building blocks type page.

Mould King sets: the lineup by kind of machine

Piece counts below come from the listings. We haven't checked them against the maker. Where a listing gives a set number, it's in the name.

Construction machines

This is the biggest group:

Two cranes sit in the highest price tier of the whole lineup. Most of the others sit a tier below.

A crane at 8,506 pieces isn't a weekend project for most people. It's a season. A motor grader at 1,109 pieces is a more reasonable first look at the brand.

Trucks

Here's a small thing that the math teacher in me can't skip. Two listings, same set number, 17 pieces apart. I'd ask a student to show their work on that one. Maybe one count includes spares, maybe one is a typo, maybe they're different versions. The listings don't say. Read the one you're actually buying, and if the count matters, ask the seller before you order.

Cars

Cars are the smaller end of the lineup. A car model also fits on a normal shelf, which a crane does not.

Engines

Lucho saw the engine sets and was interested for the first time all week. "An engine with no fuel, no oil and no exhaust," he said. "Finally, one Marisol will let past the paint shelf." Then he asked if anyone checks the firing order. Nobody on this site can answer that from a listing.

Roller coasters

Two listings are called Roller Coaster at 3,646 pieces. One carries set number 11014, the other doesn't show a number in our data. Same name, same count. If you see both in the grid, compare the listing photos before you choose.

The shotgun model

The 14016 Double-barreled Shotgun is a 1,015-piece brick model of a double-barreled shotgun. It doesn't state an age in our data. It's a display model built from bricks. Think about where it will sit and who will see it, and read the box for the age before buying it for anyone under 14.

How to pick a Mould King set

Big brick sets ask more of you than smaller ones. Here's how I'd narrow it down.

  1. Age first. Every stated age is 14+. Twelve listings don't state one. Don't hand any of these to a younger kid because the subject looks like a toy truck. Read the box.
  2. Piece count second. For a first Mould King build, the sets around 1,000 to 2,000 pieces are the sensible start: the Motor Grader, the Flatbed Truck with Airplane, the Classic Supercar or one of the Semi Truck listings.
  3. Then space. A 4,000- or 8,000-piece build needs a table you won't need back for weeks. Measure the shelf where the finished model will live, too.
  4. Then the subject. Pick the machine you'd actually look at every day. You'll be looking at it for a while.

One more note on the subject line. A crawler crane, a mining dump truck and a motor grader are machines most of us only see behind a fence on a job site. These are the versions you're allowed to touch, and nobody needs a hard hat.

Set numbers: the most useful line on the box

Thirteen of the 22 Mould King listings in our data carry a set number, like 13082, 17070 or 19023. That number is worth more than it looks.

A set number tells you two listings are the same model, even when the titles are worded differently. It's how you'd find instructions if a booklet gets lost, and it's how you'd describe the set if you ever need help with a missing part. When two listings show the same number with different piece counts, like the two 10037 Semi Truck listings, the number tells you they're meant to be the same model, and the counts tell you to read closely.

Write the set number on the box lid before the box gets recycled. Better yet, tape it to the underside of the finished model. Somebody will ask what it is.

A first build and a long build, side by side

Here's what the two ends of the lineup look like, using only listing facts.

The 19023 Motor Grader lists 1,109 pieces and ages 14+. It's a single machine, and at that count it's a project you can see the end of. It's the kind of set that tells you whether you enjoy this brand's style of build before you commit to a bigger one.

The Heavy Crane lists 8,506 pieces, close to eight times as many, and doesn't state an age in our data. That's a long build with a long booklet and a lot of bags. It suits someone who already knows they like big machine models and has the space for a large one when it's done.

Most of the lineup sits between those two. If you're unsure, start low. A finished small model is more fun than a half-finished big one.

Mould King as a gift

For a teen of 14 or older, or an adult who likes machines, a Mould King set can make sense as a gift, as long as you match three things: the age on the box, a piece count they'll actually finish, and the kind of machine they'd want on a shelf. A car fan gets a car. A kid who stops to watch every road crew gets an excavator or a grader.

Skip it as a gift for someone who has never built a large brick set and isn't sure they want to. A 1,000-piece set is a reasonable test. A 4,000-piece set is a commitment you're making for them.

Building a big brick set: a few habits

None of this comes from a Mould King manual. It's what helps with any large brick set.

The table is the real cost of a big build. Count it in weeks. A model that has to be packed up every night gets built about half as often, which in my house is about never.

Small parts and the age label

Check the age label on the listing. Toys with small parts are a choking hazard for children under 3. A big brick set has hundreds or thousands of small pieces. If younger kids live in the house, build at a table they can't reach and sweep the floor after every session.

Who should skip Mould King

Skip it for anyone under 14. That's every stated age in our data.

Skip the cranes and the large excavator if you want to finish a model this month. At 4,767 and 8,506 pieces, those are long builds.

Skip it if you want a playable toy more than a display model. The listings describe models of machines. They don't state play features in our data, so don't plan on any.

And skip it if you want a licensed character or a theme from a movie. Mould King's lineup in our data is machines and vehicles.

What our data doesn't show

If a listing adds any of these, our grid picks it up on the weekly check.

Mould King sets on the rest of the site

Mould King appears on the building blocks type page and in the building toys section. For other big builds aimed at teens and adults, see the best gifts for teens page, and for licensed big builds, best LEGO Star Wars sets.

Check the age, count the pieces, then clear a table you won't need for a month.

Questions about Mould King

Is Mould King good?

We don't grade brands. Here's what the data shows: 22 live listings on Amazon US, all brick sets, piece counts in the listings from 1,015 to 8,506, and every stated age at 14+. Most listings give a set number, which helps you match a box to its instructions. Whether a Mould King set suits you comes down to the build size and the age.

What age are Mould King sets for?

Every Mould King listing in our data that states an age says 14+. That's 10 of the 22. The other 12 don't state an age in our data, including the largest sets. Treat these as builds for teens and adults, and read the box before buying for anyone under 14.

Are Mould King sets compatible with other brick brands?

None of the Mould King listings in our data states compatibility with another brand, so we don't claim it. If fitting a set into an existing collection matters to you, read the listing and the box for what Mould King itself says before you buy.

Who makes Mould King?

We couldn't open a first-party Mould King company page to confirm who makes the sets or where. The listings show Mould King as the brand. We leave out company history rather than guess at it.

Where can I buy Mould King sets?

Every set on this page links to its Amazon US listing through the "Check price" button. Our grid only shows sets that were priced, in stock and deliverable to ZIP 10001 when we last checked, and it's rechecked weekly. We never print prices.
